The first two women in my family to cast a ballot were Gertrude Eagles Moller and Clara Shauger Wootton, herself a teacher. They both first voted in their thirties, around my age now. I know how lucky I am to have women before me who have fought so that I could have a say in how my country is run.

Residents of Puerto Rico are not allowed to vote in our elections. This is odd because although Puerto Ricans are US citizens, they are not able to vote and therefore have no say in our elections.
